In 2017, the Art + Action series was launched. This series offers professional development for artists and others working in creative industries through lectures and workshops. Past topics covered in Art + Action are, “Making for a Living” and “The Future of Creativity.” This series has featured guest speakers: Amir Jackson, founder and director of Nurture the Creative Mind, Gina Morris, founding Director of Bridgelab at Pacific Northwest College of Art, and Ethan Summers, owner of Oil/Lumber in Nashville.
Art + Action is an ongoing series. Interested attendees should follow @artandaction.co on Facebook to stay up-to-date on future events. Past live streams, photos and other content also can be found on the Art + Action Facebook page. If you attend an Art + Action lecture, workshop, discussion, or gathering, make sure you tag @artandaction.co, @ogdenfirst.org and @ninerailsogden on social media and let us know your thoughts!
Ogden creatives have access to professional development through Art + Action. Instead of focusing on community-facing artwork, this series helps provide information on the behind the scenes of a creative’s process. It is important to inspire and give resources to the current, and future, generation of Ogden artists. The Art + Action series furthers the Nine Rails Creative District’s mission of supporting and encouraging creatives, while continuing to develop and strengthen Ogden’s art presence.
